East LA & Boyle Heights Cholo-Calligraphy, Ukiyo-e & Fine Art Pioneers
From Boyle Heights alleys and the Belmont Tunnel to museum retrospectives worldwide.
Founded in Los Angeles in 1984, Kids Gone Bad / Kings Gone Berserk (KGB) united museum-celebrated painter Gajin Fujita with LA calligraphy and style pioneers Defer, Prime, SkanOne, Craze, and Syte.

Alex 'DEFER' Kizu is a co-founder of K2S (Kill 2 Succeed) and a central figure in STN (Second To None) and CBS. Emerging in the mid-1980s alongside Prime, Rick One, and Crime, Defer evolved classic Los Angeles plaqueaso and wildstyle lettering into dense, rhythmic typographic abstractions exhibited at L.A. Louver and MOCA.

GAJIN FUJITA grew up painting East Los Angeles walls and Belmont Tunnel yards with KGB (Kids Gone Bad) and K2S before earning global acclaim at LACMA and L.A. Louver for fusing LA cholo/wildstyle calligraphy with traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e.
