Founded 1986 by Skill & Snap • 40 Years of Los Angeles Brotherhood & Style
Co-founded in the summer of 1986 by Skill and Snap, UTI (Under The Influence / Using Those Ideas / Unite To Inspire Worldwide Style Writers' Association) built a 200-member international brotherhood uniting style writers, muralists, DJs, MCs, and b-boys across four decades.
From stewarding the historic Belmont Tunnel and Al's Bar / American Hotel yard in the 1980s and 90s to celebrating their landmark 40th Anniversary with multi-block productions in Boyle Heights in 2026, UTI is a living monument to Los Angeles aerosol unity.
To prevent random visitors from claiming profiles or adding unverified members, every writer claiming a profile (e.g. @PHEVER, @ANGER, @MEAR ONE) or applying to join [UTI] must submit their Official Email Address and Instagram Handle.
