Crazy Writers (CW) formed in 1971 along the IND and IRT lines as one of the first authentic graffiti crews in New York City history. Housing legendary innovators like Super Kool 223—widely credited with using industrial spray tips to pioneer the graffiti fat cap—CW set the groundwork for NYC letter design and all-line subway bombing.

A founding figure of Crazy Writers (CW), Super Kool painted some of the very first full-surface color pieces on NYC subway cars, forever changing the trajectory of aerosol art.
