Richard Mirando (SEEN UA / TC5) — The Godfather of Graffiti • TC5 Crew Admin & 6-Line IRT Wholecar Legend
Richard Mirando, known worldwide as SEEN—'The Godfather of Graffiti'—began painting New York City subway trains in 1973. His full-train productions on the 6 line became legendary for their electric comic lettering, immaculate execution, and high visibility. Featured prominently in the landmark 1983 PBS documentary 'Style Wars', Seen remains an untouchable titan of the global movement.
“We took over the trains because they moved through every neighborhood in New York. A wholecar in 1979 was a rolling museum exhibition seen by millions.”
